Toshiba’s new 815T PB on Softbank, developed to coincide with a new show featuring robo-phones is freakishly weird, but we love it. This is what phones should aspire to be. We only hope that they don’t become self aware and drill into your skull, in order to take up permanant residence on your ear. We might all become servants to these things.
Transformer fans will no doubt wet their pants. This is the first mobile phone that you could actually use as a toy. Yes, this is real. Obviously the silver one is the good guy, the black one just looks mean. Not much more info at this time, but I hope other phone manufacturers are paying attention.

Japanese carrier Softbank is preparing an unusual addition to its lineup. Toshiba is developing an exclusive phone for the carrier called the 815T PB, meant to help promote a TV drama called Ketai Sousakan 7, directed by Takashi Miike. Owners can attach a set of flexible robot limbs to the phone, enabling various poses; for full effect, the phone also comes installed with an AI personality called "Buddy Talk," which makes various expressions and responds to voice conversation, gradually improving its answers.
The PB is also integrated with games relating to the TV show, but it is still intended to be a serious competitor in the Japanese market; some features include 3G broadband, a microSD slot, and a 2.4-inch QVGA screen. The phone is also capable of FeliCa mobile transactions, and has a 3.2-megapixel camera. A release is expected in late April.
Will the real transforming robot phone please stand up?
Literally. These baddies can apparently stand on their own and scare the bejeezus out of (or wildly entertain) your baby nephew.
This pair of Toshiba 815T PB handsets for Softbank is the real deal. The feature phone sports a 3.2 megapixel camera, 3G, QVGA display, and of course, that rockin' robot body. And, could very well be the first 3G transformer/robot phone - we sure haven't seen any other 3G-toting robot-phone.
Softbank is releasing the the Toshiba 815T PB to appeal to a new TV show, Ketai Sousakan 7, that is based on transforming robot phones. The Toshiba 815T PB will be offered with a mech-kit that can be glued on to the backside to turn the cellphone into a robot-toy.

I have seen some strange cell phones before, but this new Softbank 815T PB takes the cake. The phone actually transforms into a robot-- yes I am serious. From what I can decipher form the horrible Google translation of the Japanese press release the handset is manufactured by Toshiba.
The phone looks normal enough when it’s in phone mode, but fiddle about a bit and it turns into a robot that can stand on its own two legs. As strange as it looks, I can see some hardcore Transformers fans getting all hot and bothered. It appears that the handset will be available in Japan in April.
Features include something called Buddy Talk, which seems to be a method of having the robot phone talk your text messages to you. It also seems that the robots LCD screen has a digital face that can change expressions from emoticons sent in text messages.
Other features of the handset include a music player, games, 320,000 pixel camera with autofocus and a display that can show 63 characters. Internal memory is 14 MB and the memory can be expanded with MicroSD cads up to 2GB in size. The phones main display is a QVGA 2.4-inch 240 x 320 resolution screen and the secondary is a 0.8-inch 96 x 39 pixel unit. The phone uses W-CDMA cellular system that is Japanese only so robot loving phone fans in other countries are out of luck.
